Goodbye and good riddance

So 2011 is officially over.
And it's been a ridiculous three days.
Just stumbled upon something I scribbled sometime last year.

It’s funny how unexpected, unofficial holidays can give you a strange high. Instead of revving up for the press conference with the American Jazz musicians, I sent my car to be checked for possible guage issues.  It came back well in time for me to make up my mind. The flu was swiftly working  its way into my system.  Something told me I couldn’t  go. Or shouldn’t leave the house. After much deliberation, I text my boss saying im sick. Bloody flu day.
Ok, was his minimalist reply. The lightness of doing nothing at all had started sinking in. I felt indolent and hungrier than usual. The rush to meet deadlines wasn’t on my mind. Heck, I didn’t even do comparisons/bother reaching for the neatly folded paper. Instead, I downed a double chocolate mocha. Soothing.
The day passed in a jiffy.
Till mum and I went out for a spin. The usual bonding. Took her to Clique, Rimmel came down and showed her around the place. She talked about the business she and a friend jointly ran, something  her mother was involved in too. Now that we don’t work together more, I’m noticing a completely different side of her. She warmed up to ideas of holding events/exhibitions. Just sitting and talking was relaxing. I almost forgot about the flu. Listened to Dannah pe dannah on loop in the car. Still to finish ‘Horrible Bosses’ if the fluctuating phases help.

Days like this should not go unnoticed. Cuz hey, we all gotta start somewhere. Don’t we?
